Believe nothing, no matter where you read or heard it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.
We are asking a much more fundamental, deeper question: Why is man against man? Aren’t you against somebody? Aren’t you violent? And you are the whole of humanity. I know we like to think we are separate individuals, private souls—but we are not. You are the rest of mankind because you suffer, agonize, are lonely, depressed like all the rest. So you are basically, fundamentally the rest of mankind. You are humanity, and you are, whether you like it or not, in the global sense.
Love is not a relationship. Love is a state of being; it has nothing to do with anybody else. One is not in love, one is love. And of course when one is love, one is in love—but that is an outcome, a by-product, that is not the source. The source is that one is love.
The power of love came into me, and I became fierce like a lion, then tender like the evening star.
